Major General Susan E. Henderson, USAR

U.S. Army Reserve Major General Susan Henderson is the commander of the 377th Theater Sustainment Command based in Belle Chasse, Louisiana on Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans. She leads a force of nearly 34,000 Army Reserve Soldiers and Civilians across 34 states.

MG Susan (Sue) Henderson entered the Army in 1989. She earned her undergraduate degree and commission as a Transportation Officer in through the Reserve Officers Training Corps at the University of Tampa,

Florida. Subsequently she earned three Master’s Degrees: University of Massachusetts, Masters of Education; the U.S. Army War College, Masters of Strategic Studies; and Utica College, Masters in Cyber Security. Maj. Gen. Henderson served 11 years in the National Guard and 21 years in the Army Reserve.

Also, since June 2022, she has been a Board Member of the Reserve Forces Policy Board, which serves as an independent advisor to Secretary of Defense on Reserve and National Guard matters.

Prior to taking command of the 377th TSC, she commanded the 4th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary). She also served as the Director of Sustainment for Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve. Maj. Gen. Henderson has commanded at all levels including Brigade Commander, Army Sustainment Command Army Reserve Element in Rock Island, Illinois; Battalion Commander, 2-399th Regiment (Training Support) at Fort Knox, Kentucky; Commander, 888th Movement Control Detachment in Providence, Rhode Island; and Commander of the 822d Movement Control Detachment, Boston, Massachusetts.

She also previously served as Deputy Commanding General for the 79th Theater Sustainment Command in Los Alamitos, California; Deputy Commanding Officer of the 451st ESC in Wichita, Kansas; Director of Surface and Sustainment for the Central Command Deployment and Distribution Operations Center (CDDOC) at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; Joint Mobility Officer and Joint Operations Functional Training Officer for U.S. Transportation Command at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois; Transportation Officer for the 599th Transportation Brigade, Wheeler Air Force Base, Hawaii; Operations Officer for the 719th Movement Control Battalion, Brockton, Massachusetts; Operations Officer for the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command; Logistics Operations Officer for the 1st Battalion, 79th Troop Command, Camp Edwards, Massachusetts; and Platoon Leader for the 1058th Transportation Company in Hingham, Massachusetts.

Her mobilizations and deployments include Operation Noble Eagle from August 2002 through August 2004, Operation Enduring Freedom from October 2008 through July 2011, Operation Enduring Freedom from February 2016 through August 2016 and Operation Inherent Resolve from October 2018 through September 2019.

Maj. Gen. Henderson’s significant awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, and two Joint Meritorious Unit Awards.

Originally, from Roy, Utah, Maj. Gen. Henderson is a lead systems engineer working for the MITRE Corporation in Shiloh, Illinois.
