Lena E. Moore, LCDR, USN

On December 18, 2004, LCDR Lena E. Moore was commissioned an Ensign the United States Navy. A graduate of University of Texas, LCDR Moore received her BS in Aerospace Engineering. After graduation she went to work at NASA’s Johnson Space Center as an engineer assigned projects involving flight testing. On October 26, 2006 LTJG Moore completed flight school and selected MH-60S in San Diego, CA. During her time at Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 23 (HSC-23) she completed two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. The first deployment on board USS Peleliu in 2008 consisted of counter pirate operations, search and rescue, MEDEVAC in Iraq and the Persian Gulf, vertical replenishment, and other operations in support of Expeditionary Strike Group 3 (ESG 3) and the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). During her second deployment on USS Bonhomme Richard in 2009-2010, LCDR Moore deployed in support of an Amphibious Ready Group 3 (ARG 3) and the 11th MEU earning a meritorious service award for unit. During her time at HSC-23 she worked in operations and training departments. Following her operational tour she moved to Philadelphia to become an NROTC Instructor at Villanova University. From 2010-2013 she was responsible for the training and mentoring of the freshmen students as well as recruiting for the prominent unit. During that time she received her MBA from Villanova with a specialty in International Business. LCDR Moore graduated from Expeditionary Warfare School in 2014 on Marine Corps Base Quantico where she studied the Marine Corps Planning Process and Amphibious Warfare. She spent her last tour of active duty at the Pentagon as an Office of Secretary of Defense Press Officer assisting in media inquiries. She transitioned to Reserve duty in May 2014 and her first assignment is Operations Officer of Naval Reserve Unit in support of Naval Station Rota 0169. Since September 2016, she has been a consultant of the Reserve Forces Policy Board, which serves as an independent advisor to Secretary of Defense on Reserve and National Guard matters.

In her civilian career, LCDR Moore works for General Electric (GE) Aviation in their Military Support Operations Division. She recently graduated from the GE Leadership Program which is a rotational leadership program for transitioning military officers. Her rotations included a role as Customer Support Manager for Korea and Turkey and Military Services Program Manager supporting the F108 and P8 engines scoped and defined their Repair/Repatriation contract worth $1.6 billion and their customers and completing the rotation by working in the Marine division in sales in marketing with the US Navy as the largest customer. She then became the North American Inside Sales Manager of a large team that resulted in 200% growth. She is currently embarking on creating training and directly leading a 7 people team for Additive Manufacturing and changing the way the World thinks about manufacturing. .(Current as of Sep 2018)
