Colonel Bradley O. Martsching - Senior Policy Advisor Army National Guard
Colonel Bradley Martsching is the Army National Guard Senior Policy Advisor to the Chairman of the Reserve Forces Policy Board (RFPB) in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Washington DC. He also serves as the principal policy analyst for the Board’s Homeland Subcommittee.
Colonel Martsching is an infantry officer who has commanded at the company and Squadron level and has 14 years of experience in airborne, light, reconnaissance and long-range surveillance units. Prior to his current duties, he attended the Joint Advanced Warfighting School at the Joint Forces Staff College, Norfolk VA. He has also served at the National Guard Bureau as the Army National Guard’s Chief, Readiness Reporting Branch and later the Chief, Current Operations Branch where he was also detailed to the Joint Staff, J33 to support contingency operations in Libya; a Strategic Planner in the NGB-J5 Strategy Branch; and Aide to the Chief, National Guard Bureau. Colonel Martsching has also served in the Joint Staff, J7, Joint Lessons Learned Branch.
Colonel Martsching’s operational assignment’s include Commander, 1/158 Cavalry, 58th Reconnaissance and Surveillance Brigade; S3 with 1/175th Infantry, 58th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (including Operation IRAQI FREEDOM); Commander and executive officer with E Company, 629th Military Intelligence Battalion (LRS); rifle and scout platoon leader with 1/175th Infantry, 29th Infantry Division (Light); a Liaison Officer with 3 Brigade, 29th Infantry Division (Light); and a tank platoon leader with 1/113th Cavalry, 34 Infantry Division. Lieutenant Colonel Martsching graduated from Coe College in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He also holds a Master of Arts Degree from The American University and a Master of Science Degree from Joint Forces Staff College. Colonel Martsching's military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Combined Arms Staff Service School, Intermediate Level Education, and the Joint Advanced Warfighting School. He is also a graduate of the Long-Range Surveillance Leader’s Course, the U.S. Army Jumpmaster Course, and the Joint Firepower Course.
Colonel Martsching's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal with bronze star, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” device, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Ranger Tab, Pathfinder Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Joint Staff Identification Badge, Army Staff Identification Badge, Royal Netherlands Parachutist Badge, German Parachutist Badge, Joint Meritorious Unit Award with two oak leaf clusters, the Army Superior Unit Award and the General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award.
