Lieutenant Colonel Megow-Jones is the Senior Policy Advisor for the Marine Corps Reserve to the Chairman of the Reserve Forces Policy Board in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Washington, D. C. The Reserve Forces Policy Board serves as an independent adviser to the Secretary of Defense, providing advice and recommendations to the Secretary on strategies, policies, and practices designed to improve and enhance the capabilities, efficiency, and effectiveness of the seven Reserve components. Born in Denver, Colorado, and raised in Slidell, Louisiana, Lieutenant Colonel Megow-Jones graduated from Northwestern State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. She was commissioned a second lieutenant in May 2001 via the Platoon Leaders Class program. Lieutenant Colonel Megow-Jones served as a public affairs officer and officer recruiter until leaving active duty in 2008 to pursue a law enforcement career. In 2009, Mrs. Megow-Jones accepted an appointment as a special agent with the U.S. Secret Service and was assigned to the New Orleans Field Office. In 2010, she joined the Marine Corps Reserve as the Public Affairs Officer for the 4th Marine Logistics Group and deployed to South Africa with Joint Task Force Shared Accord. In 2012, Captain Megow-Jones was selected for the Marine Corps’ Active Reserve program and resigned from the Secret Service. As an Active Reservist, she has served as a public affairs officer with Marine Forces Reserve; Aide-de-Camp to the Commander, Marine Forces Reserve; Prior Service Recruiting Operations Officer for the Eastern Recruiting Region; and as a reserve integration officer at U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command in Norfolk, Virginia where she oversaw the activation, integration, and deployment of reserve units in support of Service requirements worldwide. In 2020, Lieutenant Colonel Megow-Jones reported to Reserve Affairs Division, Quantico, Virginia serving briefly with Reserve Affairs Manpower Management Branch then as the Deputy Branch Head for Reserve Affairs Personnel Policy, Plans, and Programming Branch where she oversaw numerous reserve personnel matters from policy and end strength plans to reserve personnel budgeting across the Future Years Defense Program. In 2023, Lieutenant Colonel Megow-Jones was selected for promotion to colonel and assigned to her current position. Lieutenant Colonel Megow-Jones’s education includes a Master of Science in Leadership from Norwich University and a Master of Military Operational Art and Science from Air Command and Staff College. Her other formal military education includes the Joint Intermediate Public Affairs Course, Expeditionary Warfare School, and Marine Corps Civil-Military Operations School.
