Colonel Don R. Bevis

Colonel Don R. Bevis is a Command Pilot, qualified Maintenance Officer, and has been a member of the National Guard for nearly 28 years. Colonel Bevis is currently the Senior Policy Advisor for the Air National Guard to the Reserve Forces Policy Board (RFPB), Office of the Secretary of Defense, Washington, D.C. The Reserve Forces Policy Board serves as an independent adviser to the Secretary of Defense, providing advice and recommendations to the Secretary on strategies, policies, and practices designed to improve and enhance the capabilities, efficiency and effectiveness of the seven Reserve Components. He was hand selected by the Director of the Air National Guard and designated by the Secretary of Defense to serve as both the Air National Guard Advisor and as the Air National
Guard liaison to the Reserve Forces Policy Board

Colonel Bevis was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. He began his military career in 1986 as an enlisted member in the Arkansas Air National Guard which is where he also earned his commission
in 1994. He has been assigned to numerous operational, staff, and command positions. Prior to his current assignment on the RFPB, he was an in-residence student at the U.S. Army War College where
he received a Master of Strategic Studies Degree. Prior to attending the U.S. Army War College,
he was the Commander of the Mission Support Group in the Delaware Air National Guard’s 166th Airlift Wing. He commanded a diverse Group that included over 385 Airmen serving in the
Logistics Readiness Squadron, Civil Engineering Squadron, Security Forces Squadron, Force
Support Squadron, and Communications Flight.
