Senior Policy Advisor U.S. Army Reserve

Colonel King, USAR, is the U.S. Army Reserve Senior Policy Advisor to the Chairman of the Reserve Forces Policy Board (RFPB) in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Washington, D.C. The Reserve Forces Policy Board serves as an independent adviser to the Secretary of Defense, providing advice and recommendations to the Secretary on strategies, policies, and practices designed to improve and enhance the capabilities, efficiency and effectiveness of the seven Reserve components.

Colonel King was commissioned in 1996 from the Illinois Institute of Technology Army ROTC program as an Adjutant General Officer. Colonel King attended his Officer Basic Course at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and upon graduation, was assigned as a Platoon Leader for the 336th Adjutant General Company (Postal) in Sheffield, AL.

Most recently, he was the Deputy Director of Personnel Programs, Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Military Personnel Programs) following completion of his Senior Service College education at the United States Naval War College. Other key assignments include Commander, Third Army Augmentation Company, Shaw Air Force Base, SC and Chief, Personnel for the U.S. Army Reserve Element, Office of the Joint Staff, Suffolk, VA.

Prior to attending Senior Service College, then-Lieutenant Colonel King served as the Battalion Commander of 3/337th Training Support Battalion (TSBn), First Army; an Army Reserve unit stationed at Fort Knox, KY. During his command tenure, the 3/337th TSBn supported five Cumulative Training Exercises and prepared for mobilization to Fort Bliss, TX.

In 2003, then-Captain King commanded the 912th Personnel Company (Postal) that deployed to Baghdad, Iraq. Located in four separate geographical locations, the unit distributed over 8 million pounds of mail to over 38,000 Task Force, 1st Armored Division Soldiers, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2012, then-Major King deployed to Amman, Jordan and established the Third Army/USARCENT mission command post in support of CENTCOM Forces Jordan.

Colonel King is an Adjutant General Officer and a graduate of the Naval War College with a Master of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies as well as Illinois Institute of Technology in Illinois with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Administration. He also received an MBA from Trident University International. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal and the usual decorations expected for an officer of his service.

He has been married for 24 years to the former Ms. Tina Moll from Madison, Alabama and together, they have two daughters - Meghan who is 15, and Ashley who is 20, married and residing in Colorado with their first granddaughter – Nova Leigh who is 1.
